UX / CRO Consultants
Looking to hire a UX or CRO Consultant?
One of the most essential parts of any website is the user experience. Without it they’d be zero sales and zero leads. Thankfully, a number of DMU members are true UX and CRO experts, able to combine data and creativity to understand, test and implement improvements to help your brands conversion rate.
Here's what we're most often asked by businesses wanting to hire a CRO or UX Consultant...
What does a CRO or UX Consultant do exactly?
A CRO or UX Consultant combines a range of qualitative and quantitive datasets to recommend changes that would affect a websites performance. What this looks like will vary by website and by client. Sometimes this could be in person interviews to conduct market research, sometimes it’s a review of a users journey through analytics.
Whatever the recommendations that come about from these studies, all adjustments to a website are then tested against a set of KPI’s to see how the conversion rate of a website has been impacted. With so many variables it can be a long process but one which, when done right, can generate a huge ROI.
What channels do CRO and UX Consultants work across?
UX and CRO Consultants all have a different toolkit and different approach to studying a website and its audience.
Some will be more specialised in data analysis, with a heavier focus items such as AB testing and heatmaps to inform recommendations. Other consultants will approach things in a more phycological or anthropological way, really trying to understand customers and clients in order to adjust the outcomes for a brand.
Because approaches vary so much it’s best to reach out to a consultant to see how they might approach your specific problems to see if they’re the right fit.
How much do UX and CRO Consultants charge?
Prices are typically higher to hire in a UX or CRO Consultant than other digital marketing specialists. Normally, within the UK you would be looking at setting aside a budget of at least £3000 per engagement although figures x2 or x3 times that are not uncommon.
Pricing is delivered on both a per project basis (for instance by delivering a UX review) as well as on monthly retainers (as adjustments to a site are completed incrementally.) What is quoted for will depend heavily on the size and complexity of the website, the number of markets a brand is working across and the goals of the client.
Budget should also be available to conduct user testing and resource available internally for web developers, designers and copywriters to create and implement the changes recommended.
